Install issues

I posted this in the hardware forum but I think it should go here. I went
to perform a clean install of Vista. My system is an opteron 170 in a DFI
LP NF4 Ultra D. I have 2 drives on sata 1 and 2 in a raid 0, 2 drives on
sata 3 and 4 that are not in a raid, and 2 drives connected to an sil3114
controller in a raid 0. The system is set to boot from the cd/dvd first
and then from the non-raid drive on sata 3. When I click install after
Vista preloads, it says could not determine drive status and won't
install. I was only able to install it by doing a clean install of XP Pro
and then upgrading. But after doing that, I installed the nVidia beta
drivers for vista (audio and raid controller) and the ati vista drivers.
After that it would only boot to the old BSOD. Any ideas on how to fix
either issue?

I suggest two things:

1. Make sure the SATA drivers you are loading during the install are in the
root of separate media.
2. Do a search of this newsgroup for more information about the sil3114.

It doesn't bring up a screen so that I can load any drivers. I am getting
that error before I get to the screen that allows you to load drivers.

I forgot to mention. I found that for most people the xp sil3114 driver
works. As far as the other issue is there a way to load a driver before it
gets to the gui screen? I know with xp you could press D2 in the dos part
of the install but there is no dos part to the vista install. I pressed F8
and told it to start without requiring signed drivers but I get the same
error.

One of the screens, early in the install process, has a "Load Drivers"
hyperlink near the bottom of the screen, but I for the life of me can't
remember which one. It does require user input, however, if that helps any.
