formated hd,when reinstalling i get to the settup screen and my c: drive is
missing.unknown disk. i can get into bios where i find the primary master now
shows cd/rw. the slave is the cdrom.the secondary-none.no c drive. help!

First and foremost, why did you reformat? It may be that any issues you had
were due to a failing drive. If you do not have a harddrive diagnostic utility
to check its integrity, you can get one from the manufacturers support site.
Run the dignostics before going any further if you had issues with the machine.

If you had no issues and simply formatted to perform a fresh/clean install,
try partitioning the disk first before reinstalling the OS.

Boot with the XP CDROM. Follow each and every instruction completely.
I don't know but it appears that you deleted the partition.

Hi ... Your problem just might be your jumper , Is the jumper set correct on
the hard drive ? I would try different location to see which is the correct
spot

In addition to my earlier response:

Are the CD-RW and CD-ROM actually on the Primary IDE channel?

If they are, swap the drive setup. Connect the HD to the Primary IDE as
Master, connect the CD-RW to Secondary IDE as the Master and the CD-ROM to the
Secondary IDE as the Slave.

If they aren't, pull the HD and connect one of the other drives to the Primary
IDE. If it is not detected in the BIOS then you could try reinstalling the IDE
Controller drivers. If that fails, the controller or other intenals are
failing, possibly the mobo itself
..
