Install Help

It turns out that my friend’s copies of XP Pro are pirated. This is new
to me.

Now the question is; could an unregistered / pirated copy of XP deny an
installation of printer drivers or any other software installs? Is that
possible and is that why I haven’t been able to do an install of the
installation software for the HP PhotoSmart 7760? Does it need to be a
legitimate copy? Does he need to shell out some bucks for a licensed
copy?

Thanks for any help
Bart

PS, no it isn't my copy of XP, it really is a friends.

Q: "Does he need to shell out some bucks for a licensed copy?".

A: Your friend needs to purchase a "Full Version" of Windows XP Professional
and proceed with a "Repair Install". There is zero (0) support for pirated and
illegal software!
