I have windows xp home on my computer and tried installing MCE. While
installing it, it asked me if I could install some intel drivers and
then my mouse and keyboard deactivate, but the blinking lights in the
back continue. I've tried a couple times but it wont work, and now I
can only boot XP home in safe mode. I deleted the extra WINDOWS file
aswell as the temp files. Before, every time I would restart it would
go back to the install and crash and now that I delted the folders it
says cannot continue install without --- files.

What can I do to install MCE or to uninstall it and get back to my
normal home XP without losing all my stuff? I would rather be able to
install MCE.

If by "MCE" you mean the media center edition of XP, be aware that is only
available as a pre-installed product. If you have a CD, then it should be
used only on the computer it came with. See the following for info:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/howtobuy/default.mspx

If by "MCE" you mean Windows CE, a version intended for portable devices
that are not really full PCs, then you should not try to install that on a
PC.

Given where you are, options to return XP to full functionality include:

(1) driver rollback (will only work if the fundamental problem is the
drivers, not the core files of XP itself)
(2) system restore (will work only if what you did triggered the creation
of a restore point before the installation)
(3) repair installation of XP. This will re-install all XP files and
re-detect hardware and re-install drivers. However, it will not fix most
registry problems, since it does not create a new registry. If successful,
this will preserve all personal files and installed programs. To perform a
repair you need to have an XP CD, the same one that was used to install XP.
If you only have a "restoration CD", such as provided by some PC makers,
this option may not be available. If you used an "OEM" CD to install XP,
then it will not have ther repair option. However, you could always buy a
full retail XP CD and use that. Repair links follow.

Before moving on to option (4), be aware that you can "save" personal files
off of a PC in several ways:

(a) Safe mode. If that works, copy & paste to an external USB drive, pen
drive, ZIP, etc.
(b) Use a rescue CD (see next) to boot the PC into a different operating
system, then copy & paste to wherever you want. Rescue CDs of various
flavors can be found via this link:

I have been happy with the KNOPPIX CD. By default KNOPPIX will not not
write to your hard drive, although you can change that, if you wish.

(4) Reinstall XP, meaning (1) format, lose everthing, (2) reinstall. Step
(1) will be performed automatically for you by the XP installer. To be more
precisie, you will only lose eveything on C:\. If you have multiple
partitions, the others should be safe. Thus, the value of keeping personal
files anywhere except on C:\.

A variations on (4) is to use a restoration CD to retrun the PC to day one
as received form the manufacturer. Using such a CD may erase everyinthing
on the hard drive, not just what is on the C: partition.

So basically you tried to install 2 operating systems onto one
partition..........Try doing a "repair" installation of the original XP home
..

It is impossible to tell by your description what you have done or what
condition the computer is in. At this point I would suggest you backup
important data and start with a clean install.

The other option is to take your computer and copy of MCE to a competent
computer tech, have them save your data and install MCE for you.

MCE is available for purchase as OEM.
