install failure....msdart.dll not found...help!

S

spenzdad

I am trying to reinstall windows XP HOME over a previous XP HOME
installation .
During the "Registering Components" phase I receive a failure message in a
popup window....

Window is titled: Unregmp2.exe entry pint GetIUMs not found.

And in the body is the message: Not located MSDART.DLL.

When I close the window it just pops back. No way to exit the install.
Just loops on the fialure message forever.
I hard power down and it just starts with the install again and evenutally
gets to the same failure message described above

Any help to get me through this is greatly appreciated.

thank you!

When the problem occurs, press Shift +F10 to bring up the
command prompt. Then type taskmgr.exe in the DOS window
and press Enter. The Task Manager should be started. If
not, try to press C+Shift+ESC. In the Task Manager
program, select the error messsage window in the
application list and click "End Task". In the process
list, terminate the unregmp2.exe program. Exit the DOS
prompt window and resume the installation process.
