Install 2003

I just received my copy of FP 2003 I assume that I can
just install it and it will not upset any apples in my FP
2002 (Which I installed as part of Office 2002) and I
have used successfully for 2 years.

s/b OK. In fact, dufing serup, you can decide whether to
overwrite your existing version of FrontPage or keep both
versions available.

Sorry. This was a clear case of intermittent keyboard actuator
failure.

I'd claim the cat walked across the keyboard, but I don't own one of
those. (Cat, that is.)

I, 2, am having trouble upgrading from FP 2000 to 2003. I get about halfway
(guess!) through the installation and get a "Failure: File Not Found" message
while the Install is "Copying: GDIPLUS.DLL".

I've backed out and restarted more than a half dozen times over two days,
and it always fails at the same point. Different specific filenames show up,
but the most frequent is "supposed" to be in the directory C:\MSOCACHE\ALL
USERS . . . etc.. The specific file name is 01561403.cab. I haven't been
able to locate that file (or another two it's sometimes looking for:
YA561403.cab, and YB561408.cab) on any drive nor CD.

I cannot get any email install assist from MicroSoft (even though I am a
Windows fan!) because without the the product ID (which must be installed
before it's visible!)

I'm running an old, slow machine, PII, 266MHz, XP (just loaded SP-2). Have
NOT had MS Office onboard until yesterday. I installed it because I thought
the files FP2003 Install was looking for were a part of Office. Otherwise, I
really don't want Office on this machine.

I'm so frustrated!! Can anyone help me, or open a door into MS installation
support -- if it exists anymore?? Please, I need to get back to working
instead of fiddling with something which should be clean and painless.

I think you need to un-install Windows XP2 and/or the JPEG security update, then do the upgrade.

thank you. I just found this again after starting a new thread:
"Installation Error: File Not Found" . . . . (sorry for the new thread).

I tried what you suggested. I had recently installed XP2, so I took it
off, then tried all the same options again. Same results.
The setup program is looking for these files on the Installation Disk.
Unless they are contained as part of a zipped file, I cannot find them with
any search.
BTW, I have one disk for this installation. Should there be 2? Just a guess.

One thing I have not tried, and that is copying the CD onto my hard drive
and trying the install from there. But, if the files "ain't" there, the
result will likely be the same, don't you think?
