Inserting special characters

Fred Newton

I've seen the facility to insert bullets and other special characters
by use of the Alt key and then a code sequence, but is there a
documented list of these codes and characters/functions they perform
please.

Many thanks

You can create your own list, open a new workbook
in A1 put

=CHAR(ROW(1:1))

or

=CHAR(ROW())

the result would be the same if you put the formula in A1
otherwise the latter will return the row number of the cell that holds it.
Now copy down the formula to A255 (or 255 rows if you put it somewhere else
but row 1)
the row number will now be the code number

Alt + 65 on the numpad returns "A"

Alt + 149 returns a bullet

to get different characters you can format the list with wing dings

for more, Chip also has an add-in that can be installed for special
characters
