inserting page number in office word

I want to insert page number on the header and also in the footer page number
of next page. How can I do it to show this number automatically. For example
I want to write on page one header 1 and in footer 2 on first page and want
it automatically numberred on page 2 as 2 on header and 3 on footer.likewise
on page 3 3on header and 4 on footer. Is it possible automatically in
msword2000. If yes how.

Nisha,

You should be able to achieve the desired result using a formula field in
the footer that just adds 1 to the current page number. The toggled field
would look something like:

{={ PAGE } + 1}

Note that the curly brackets ("{" and "}") are field delimiters and _must_
be created by pressing Ctrl+F9. If you simply type a curly bracket using the
keyboard, it will not work.
