Inserting bullet after text in the same line...

I am utilizing Word 2002 and I am having trouble with the bullet function.
Basically I want the format below:

Personal Attributes<tab>*insertbullet
*bullet line 2
*and so on

When ever I attempt to do this Word automatically pulls "Personal
Attributes" into the bulleted section. I am NOT using any template.

You have to insert the bullet manually using Insert | Symbol.
