Inserting a Page Break

OK- I can't figure it out - I've been trying to insert a
page break in a column on a spreadsheet, and it REFUSES to
insert! If I insert the break and go back to "insert",
the option comes up to "remove the page break" (the
program thinks it is there), but it will not show up on
the page break view, and will not print with the page
break. Am I missing something? I have Excel 2000, and
have applied all of the upgrades through SP-3. I would
really appreciate any help anyone can offer on this!

The print area is setting up just fine - the problem is
that it wants to print everything on one page, even though
I am trying to insert a manual page break in a column.
It's not even recognizing the page break.

If you're just trying to set your print area, the easiest
way to do that is highlight what you expect one page to
be, then in the File menu, select "Set Print Area".
I have Excel 2003, and I know in this one, in the View
menu, you can get a "Page Break Preview" view, and drag
around the borders there. I don't know if Excel 2000 has
that feature or not, but it should have the Set Print Area
at least. (I think)

Check your page setup -- you MUST have the "Adjust to" selected, not the
"Fit to" selected in order for Excel to "honor" the page breaks -- this is
because you're otherwise giving conflicting information.
You can use fit to first, the use print preview, then go back to page setup
and click the adjust to, leaving the changed %.

I have found that when Excel gets stubborn about page breaks best thing to do is
to totally reset the print area and start over.

Are you doing vertical page breaks or horizontal ones?

I tried this (several times) - the page breaks still
refuses to insert! I'm trying to insert a vertical page
break.
