inserting a document into a document

I am hoping to insert one Word document (with many tables and other word
text) into another Word document. I would like the document that I am
inserting to work more like a jpeg or pdf file. The document that I am
inserting has different margins (.5) than the orginal document (1.5). I must
keep the original documents margins (1.5) Inserting causes me to have
formatting problems. Any suggestions other than converting it to a pdf file?

Hi Penny-

If I follow you right, there are at least two options you might want to
consider:

1- If you do want to insert the content of the '2nd' file as editable text
you need to create a Section Break (Insert>Break--Next Page Section Break),
which will allow different margins & other differences in each section
without affecting the other,

2- Instead of Inserting the 2nd doc as a File you can use
Insert>Object--From File and insert it as an embedded object. Note, however,
that if the 2nd doc is more than one page only the 'top' page will display.
Double-clicking the object will open it for access to the entire content.

Unfortunately, these two options won't work.

1. I understand the section break concept. I cannot, however, have the
second section to have different margins.

2. I need the whole document (5-10 pages) to appear as opposed to only the
top page.

I do not need it to be editable. Any other suggestions?

Although your original problem statement was (in retrospect), quite clear,
your use of "original document" was misleading. If you want the inserted
document to assume the margins of the document into which it is inserted,
then you need to remove any section breaks in the inserted document or
copy/paste one section at a time, without the section breaks. See
