Insert Signature Button Gone

I've just begun using Word 2003 to edit Outlook 2003 emails. Prior to Word
as editor, I had a button (depicting pen-in-hand-on-page) on the OL New
Message toolbar to insert signatures. When this button was clicked, it
offered a selection of custom signatures that might be added to the
particular new email. Now, with Word editing Outlook, that button has
disappeared, and nowhere can I find the command function to 'insert
signature.' I have been able to insert a particular signature in ALL new
emails, but I seem to have lost the flexibility to add one or more of a
variety of signatures - or leave the email without any signature - which
decision I could previously make for each new email with the now missing
button. Can anyone tell me how to regain this function? Thank you.

you dont' get it when Word is used as the editor. Signatures need to be for
al messages or none.
Some use auto-text for a signature instead.

WordMail does not include an Insert | Signature command like the regular Outlook editor. If you want to be able to insert a signature into a WordMail message manually, you can create an AutoText entry for each signature. You can then insert them with the Insert | AutoText command.

Or, create multiple signatures the normal way (Tools | Options | Mail Format) and make one the default. If you want to use a different signature for the current message, right-click the signature that Outlook inserted automatically. From the pop-up menu, select either the name of the signature you want to use or E-mail Signature to create a new one. I personally prefer this technique. This is also the technique you need to use if you want Outlook 2003 to automatically change your signature when you switch accounts on an unsent message.

Thank you, Ms. Mosher. Very helpful. Using your technique, I've created a
blank default signature, which I can right click to insert one of several
alternative signatures, or leave as blank if no signature is desired.
Thanks again. Sanford
