Insert picture from scanner? - Excel 2007

N

'Nel'

I have resisted the urge to upgrade from Office XP for a while, as I never
got used to the ribbon when using a beta. I finally made the jump after
seeing a work colleague looking quite speedy & productive with Excel 2007!

So this morning I'm doing some expenses, and with a pile of receipts in my
hand, went looking for the 'Insert...from Scanner or Camera'

Couldn't find it at first, so hit 'F1' - only to find that the function is
no longer available!!!

What kind of progress is this???

Is there any workaround to do this in one step - rather than saving each
picture to the computer first?

TIA

Hi,

See if this works,

ALT+F11 to go to VBE
CTRL+G to go to Immediate window

Enter the following line and press enter

Application.CommandBars.FindControl(ID:=1764).Execute

For me this opened the Insert Picture from Scanner or Camera dialog.
But I do have both xl2007 and xl2003 installed

Cheers

I ran this command on a desk top PC having both a webcam and an all-in one
HP L7680 which has a scanner. The later is networked with an Ethernet cable.
With XL 2007 under Win XP, I was able to scan a picture into a worksheet.
The dialog box let me select all-in-one or webcam. This PC has XL 2003 and
XL 2007 installed

On a laptop, XL 2010 (tech preview) under Windows 7, It found only the
laptop webcam but not the all-in-one HP L7680 (although I can print to the
laptop). The laptop has only Office 2007 installed. My test worksheet now
has a terrible mug-shot of yours truly!
best wishes

Thanks for testing Bernard.

I'm so sorry that I could do nothing to prevent that mug-shot making
it's way into your workbook ;)

Cheers
