How can I insert a pdf file into a slide with PowerPoint 2003?

Thank you

Hi Karen - I'm not an expert with Power Point, but I use it on a daily basis
and haven't figured out a way yet. I usually end up selecting and copying
text or objects from the PDF file and pasting to Power Point. Or, if you
want a single slide to look exactly like 1 page of a PDF file, open the PDF
file and save it as a JPG, then insert the JPG into your slide. Good luck.
I'll be watching the boards and hopefully this will be answered and a better
solution is given!

Wendy

Wendy' suggestions are correct. You can only copy and paste a pdf file into
PowerPoint. To make sure the quality of the image you are copying to PPT is
sufficient, enlarge the Adobe view to a point that is larger that what you
want in your PPT.

Copying and pasting can make for a large file size. Saving it as a jpg. may
reduce the file size. To be sure edit your file size in photo editing
software like Paint or Photoshop.

Let me know if this helps.

If you want to convert a PowerPoint Presentation to PDF, you can follow the
tip below:

To convert your PowerPoint presentation to a PDF file, you will need to use
the full version of Adobe Acrobat and not just the Acrobat Reader.

The advantages of converting a PowerPoint presentation into PDF (Portable
Document Format) are the following:

Lighter file size
Final user does not need to have PowerPoint (though the free Acrobat Reader
will be required)
Quality of display is guaranteed on all screen and monitor resolutions
Layout, fonts and colors used in your presentation are maintained
File can be seen on Mac, Linux, PC and other types of computers
Presentation can be encrypted, password protected, and numerous features can
be placed under control (copy & paste of contents, printing, etc.)

To convert your PowerPoint presentation into an Adobe Acrobat PDF file,
please follow these steps:

Open the PowerPoint file.

Select Print from the File menu.

Pull down the "printer" menu and choose Adobe PDF as your printer.Click to

Set printing options, if needed. if you need to create a PDF of a
presentation for handout purposes you may want to print out 4 or 6 pages per
slide as to maximize usability and print costs. To do this you will need to
select "Handouts" in the "Print What" pull-down menu, then choose the "Slide
per page" option (all within the Print dialog box).Click to enlarge

Click OK. Acrobat will prompt you to give your file a name, and it will save
it on your hard drive as a PDF file.

It's all done, just take into account that such operation may take a while,
depending on the length and on the weight of your presentation.

What you can do is this:
Insert>>>Object>>>Adobe Acrobat Document
With image of document on slide, select>>>Action setting>>>Object Action
"open"
This way you can put an image of the PDF file in the presentation with a
link to the full PDF that will open in Acrobat Reader.
Hope this helps!!!

See http://www.pdf2picture.com for a $59 tool that converts PDF to the
Windows picture format, WMF. Vector graphics, raster images and font
text strings are all supported and reproduced as such. Meaning, you can
ungroup and edit the content in PowerPoint, and you'll retain
high-resolution printing and optimal display quality at any scale size
and zoom level. Free eval is available.
