insert image by reference in powerpoint

How can I insert an image by reference in powerpoint? This would really help
with document revision control. Then I could update the images used in the
powerpoint presentation and not worry about manually re-inserting the updated
pic in the presentation because it would automatically be updated with the
new image.

Insert > Picture > From File. Browse to the picture and click on the arrow
next to the Insert button and choose Link to File.
