How do I insert the path and filename of a document in Word 2007 without
retyping it (like it worked in previous versions).

Open the header. Insert a field with the code

FILENAME \p

In previous Word versions this field was a standard AutoText entry, but
somebody at Microsoft apparently thought it wasn't needed any more (or just
forgot). You can make it into an AutoText entry for yourself.

Jay,

I can't seem to make that work. I typed it in the text field offered when I
opened the header. It just stayed exactly what I typed.

Did you use Ctrl+F9 to insert the field braces before typing the field
syntax?
