Insert Editing

I am editing a video which is an interview between two
people. I need to retain all of the audio track but
replace some of the video with other shots (such as
trees, beach scene, car etc) as those topics are
mentioned in the audio. I also want to use transitions
in the video stream and retain the audio/music track for
background music. There doesn't seem to be a way of
doing this in MM2?? That is, how can I edit only the
video stream without disturbing the original audio?
Greatly appreciate any advice.

Has to be done in two passes.

Pass one:
do the video+transitions, muting the audoi in video track and placing a copy
of the video in music track. Render to DV AVI and bring back in Movie maker.

PassTwo:
do the background music, adjusting volume levels.

Thanks Rehan, but in pass 1, doesn't the original audio
(commentary) get out of synch with the video if I edit
the original video material by adding in new material?
What I am effectively trying to do, is retain a fixed
length audio track but substitute some video for the
original video that audio is attached to. Can you
explain a bit further please? Thanks.

hi there.
yes..just done this myself... split the video /audio line
and copy the audio section to the audio/music line.then
delete the video/audio section and replace it with the
stills/ footage you wish to insert(obviously needs to be
the same time else the soundtrack will not flow.
if you get the audio out of sinc then just nudge that
section a little to bring it back in line.

You need to sync the video clips manually by trimming down to the clips
whose audio is played over other footage and moving left or right in the
TImeLine view.
