I have two HD's "C" and "D". reciently my computer went
south. I removed the "D" drive I use as a backup and
sent the CPU to the manufacturer. They rebuilt it
completely, new mother board, processors, RAM and HD.
The new HD had XP installed from the factory. I re-set
it up with the same profile and password as I had
previously on the original "C" drive. I re-installed my
backup HD - "D" and now all of the folders that I had
that were not shared with the other users are inacessable
to me. How can I remedy this?

Hi

This one should fix this issue:

HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP

Torgeir,

I appreciate the assistance and the direction you have
offered with my problem. I printed the document and
followed it's instruction to the letter and I still am
unable to access my files. I have tried to change the
permissions to an individual file, a folder and then the
entire drive to no avail. I have administrator level
access on this machine and have tried to change
attributes to allow all users to access these files and
that hasn't worked either. If you have any more
suggestions I would like to here them.

It told you to take ownership not change permissions. Untill you take ownership noone currently existing can change permissions as all security are set for users on your old hard drive - who no longer exist.
