input mask problem

My company have just upgraded th eworking platform from NT to XP and the
office is also upgrade. I found the access forms which have been working
prefectly are now have problems. We put the cursor on the field of which
input mask were set and key in text, however, the cursor cannot move forward
to another text location. I have to use right arrow to force the cursor to
next text location until the whole field was filled with the data I want. The
input mask did work what I want it to do unless it didn't move forward
automatically!!!

Warren, the example you cite is just one of the ways in which input masks
serve as very good roadblocks to quick data entry.

Other than special cases (such as Password), input masks are about as useful
as a chocolate teapot.

What can I do to fix the problem?

Remove the input mask.

Not sure what you were trying to do with it: if validation, try the
BeforeUpdate event of the control.

Allen,

<g> Chocolate teapots are great if all you put in them is Iced Tea. You know
what Iced Tea is don't you? It's Texas Champagne. <g>

The actual input mask is (LLL"-200"00000"-"0000"-R-GAS";0;0). I do want some
text need not to be key in every time and want them to be brought to the
table. Of cause I also want to validate the key in text are of characters I
want.
I don't think the problem is from the design of the input mask cause it work
perfectly before. It might be a bug in the office or some kind of problem I
don't know.
