Frustrated of Chandlers Ford

About 2 weeks ago I lost all function on Windows mail tho it had worked fine
until then. I can still access the internet but any attempt to send/receive
email gets the message "Connection to Server failed. ...Protocol POP3 Port
110 Secure (SSL) No socket error 10061 Error number 0x800CCC0E."
I have checked the settings which all seem OK and have tried Thunderbird and
also reloading the Broadband and email programs from the disc supplied
originally by my ISP.

Any comment/suggestion welcome

You supplied only part of the error message. Right-click on the error message,
copy, then paste the whole thing into a reply here. There is diagnostic
information in there that is useful for our troubleshooting.

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully compatible
with Windows Mail.

The full error message is : The connection to the server has failed.
Account: 'mail.talktalk.net', Server:'mail.talktalk.net', Protocol:POP3,
Port:110, Secure(SSL): Socket Error:10061, error Number:0x800CCC0E
I hope this is helpful.

Looks like you may have hand-typed that error message since there are
some irregularities in it. That makes it difficult to judge if something is a
typo or a genuine clue. For example, after "Secure(SSL)" it should say
either Yes or No. I'm proceeding on the basis that it said No.

That type of error message is often caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off.
