Hello,

Hopefully you can help me....

Every now and then...approx. every 10 minutes....a screen pops up of an
adult nature...one that I did not investigate myself!!!

I've carried out virus checks, etc, using Norton 2006 and S & D, but it
still keeps appearing...any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi

Try searching for any spyware you may have on your system:

Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip
Spy Sweeper - www.webroot.com
Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com

Try SpyWareBlaster to stop intrusions:

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Also see the following links:

http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Also run a virus-check on your system with the latest definitions for your
anti virus program.

I would assume that there is a malware program running that you haven't
found yet. Try LavaSoft Ad-Aware, and also go through the processes
list and see if there are processes that might be the program that is
causing you the trouble. Once you have the process found, it should be
easier to remove.

HTH.

If by "S & D," you mean Spybot Search and Destroy, that's not enough. Note
what Eric Howes, who has done extensive testing on Anti-Spyware products,
states:

"No single anti-spyware scanner removes everything. Even the best-performing
anti-spyware scanner in these tests missed fully one quarter of the
"critical" files and Registry entries" See

Go to Malke's Malware Removal site at
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware and foolow
the instructions there.

When visiting porn sites, always be careful not to download/install
their "free" viewers. You'll get more than expected, every time. To
repair the current situation, uninstall the "viewer(s)" provided and
then use Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de and SpyBot Search and Destroy
from www.safer-networking.org/ to clean up any residue. Both have
free versions for personal use.

You should also try using MSConfig to see if something is being
started each time you reboot.

Additionally, Look in the C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up and C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up folders, and in the
system registry, primarily in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys.

varieties of scumware are available here:
