favorable comments, I tried accessing their web site but was unable to
connect.

Its fine here. Try deleting your internet cache or try changing your
dns server.

Hooked up to 'net via my Verizon cell phone and was able to get to
their site. Same computer, same browser, etc. Only difference was
modem & ISP. Any explanations?

Just dump your browser cashe of junk from the internet,
a lot of stuff comes into there, some of it is add-ware,
some are running programs that mess things up, you never
know.
