Ingame video adjustment freezes system

Hi,

I have 10 machines with a Soltek SL-75FRN2-L mobo and a GeCube 9600XT
256Mb Video Card. on every single machine the system freeze when the
brightness or gamma is adjusted ingame on battlefield vietnam and
Farcry. I have tried the 4.8 and 4.9 catayst drivers from ATI, also
the Omega drivers and the latest drivers off GeCube, with all the same
issue. The only driver that I've found to work is the Catayst 4.2,
but new games such as Doom III and HL2 recommend using the latest and
the performance is much better on the latest drivers.

I've looked on Soltek/GeCube/ATI for any information on this problem
but have found nothing. Surely someone else has this combo and are
have the same problems???

Has everyone heard of this or got any suggestions.

Thanks
Todd

Soltek and GeCube won't be of much help, unless either just
happened to learn of the solution from ATI, as it's an ATI
problem and one ATI must fix unless someone comes up with a
workaround till they do fix it. I try to avoid ATI cards
due to little driver bugs like this so I don't have a good
knowledge of available ATI tweaking tools, but if the driver
doesn't have a brightness or gamma adjustment that sticks in
games, maybe some other tweak util for ATI cards would?

Seems most likely you're just going to have to wait till ATI
gets this bug fixed in a later driver version. If you email
their support department they'll at least know about it, or
know that yet another customer knows so they need get it
fixed... if they dont' already have a suggestion for you.

Try patching the games to latest version if possible. I
don't know about Battlefield Vietnam but Farcry had a lot of
video-related fixes made between the original release and
the (now current?) v1.3 patch.

I just tried the 4.11 drivers of ATI and still having
trouble....thanks for your reply. I can use a util called PowerColour
which has hotkeys that actually work. I'll log it with ATI. thanks
again
