Information Bar Message Window (on Screen)

I inadvertently clicked 'don't show this message again' on the Information
Bar Message Window. This is the message window that alerts you when Internet
Explorer blocks a pop-up window or file download that might not be safe. It
tells you to look for the Information Bar (near the top of your browser).

I have looked in Internet Explorer/Tools/Pop-Up Blocker/Pup-Up Blocker
settings, and you can not turn the message window back on from there.

PLease help me turn this message window back on. I do want to be shown this
message again.

Internet Explorer/Tools/Pop-Up Blocker/Pop-Up Blocker Settings has an
option "Show Information bar when a pop-up is blocked".
Isn't that what you want?

Thanks Alan but no, it's not what I mean't. I do have "Show Information Bar'
and 'Play a Sound' turned on, and that is working fine. I had already looked
in this area you referred me to, but it doesn't give an option to turn the
Message on/off.

My problem is with the initial Information Bar Message Window that pops on
to the screen telling you to look up near the top of your browser to see that
the Information Bar has appeared. It is this Message Window that I
inadvertently clicked the box within it that said 'don't show me this message
again'.

So, please, can you describe to me the steps to turn this message back on?

Thanks a lot for your communication.

Copy and paste everything between the lines into notepad. Make sure you
leave an empty line at the bottom. Save as a registry file (i.e.
YesBar.reg). Go to where you saved that file and double-click it. The
inofrmation bar will return just as it was when you first saw it. If you are
unable to successfully make this registry file, drop me a note and I'll send
you a copy.

Hi 'darkrats',

Thanks a lot for your recommended action. I presume you understood my issue
is with getting back the Information Bar Message Window that pops onto the
middle of the screen and not the Information Bar itself which appears near
the top of the browser. It is this Message Window that alerts you to the fact
that the Information Bar has appeared above that I want back.
So, that being the case, I can copy and paste the code between the lines as
you suggest into notepad OK, I just am not clear how to proceed from there. I
am a bit computer literate but not immensely so!
Could you just spell out a bit more simply for me the steps I follow, when I
have my code in notepad, to 'save as a registry file (i.e. YesBar.reg)'. I
really don't understand precisely what to do. And where would you recommend
that I save it?

I will try this when I am more clear on what to do, before I take up your
very kind offer to send me a copy of the file. Would I need to give you my
email address for you to send me the file if needed?

Thak you so much for helping.

Go here:

members.shaw.ca/darkrats

You'll see the file.
Double-click and "save" to your computer.
or right-click and "save target as" to your computer.

Then just run the file (you may have to reboot)

Yes, if you want me to send you the file directly, I will need an email
address.

Thanks a lot 'darkrats'.
I have found the YesBar.reg' file where you told me to go and look.
I will download it, save and run it, reboot, and look forward to the return
of the alert window.
Because of my lack of confidence or deep knowlege about this stuff, could
you please help with what should be my last questions:
1. Where should I save the file on my computer? What directory/folder? I am
running on Microsoft XP Home Edition.
2. When you say run it after I have installed it, do I go to Start/Run... on
my desktop and type 'YesBar.reg' where it says Open, then click OK? (Then
reboot).
I really do appreciate your help.
Once I get your response to my two last questions I'll do it and let you
know the result.

Hi 'darkrats',
I now have that small file installed and run on my PC. I also rebooted. Your
instructions were foolproof and, yes, it was eventually easy for me to do,
thanks. I used the internet a bit last night and hoped to get a pop up
blocked so I could say how well it was now working, but I never got the
opportunity on the sites I was visiting! No pop ups encountered!
So, I will still say thanks in confidence that it will work. You have been
very supportive to me and hung in there till I did what you were advising.
Your help is very much appreciated.
