I'm trying to run a powerpoint slide show from my laptop with an infocus
machine. What I can't seem to figure out is how to have the show on the
laptop screen as well as being projected from the infocus machine. I know
I've done this in the past and must have hit something wrong. Does anyone
have any ideas?

Usually you toggle between computer only, projector only, and computer +
projector by pressing the Fn key and the number key that controls your LCD
display. You'll have to look for a little screen icon on your number keys to
know which number -- or look in the manual for your laptop.

Thanks for your answer! I do have to hit F8 and it would run both but for
some reason now I can only get it to do one or the other. I've been looking
in my manuals for something but I haven't been able to find anything yet.

Right click on your desktop and go to Properties>Settings>Advanced to
check the settings for your graphics card. Sometimes there are
settings buried down in some submenu that specifies the display
profiles. ATI and nVidia cards are notorious for their complicated
settings. Check the help menu and you might find something that leads
you to the right place.
On a Mac laptop you need to make sure you have Video Mirroring turned
on.

Another thing you should do is have the laptop resolution match the
resolution on the projector. Probably 1024x768 depending on the model
of projector.

Last, always try to make sure your laptop is plugged in to an AC
outlet when using a projector. On battery you might not always get
enough video signal to run both the internal/external mode.

Good luck!
