Info retreival from a crashed hp notebook.

I was asked to try and get the info off of a hard drive from an hp pavilion
ze 4400 notebook. The notebook has a hardware problem and won't boot. The
only way i can see to do this is to take it in for data extraction for a
hefty price. Can I hook the hard drive up to another notebook or get a cable
to hook it to a regular pc and try that? Thanks in advance.

If the hard drive is not the hardware that failed you may want try
www.langa.com and look at item 4 in the newsletter of 2004-10-18.

you can pull the hard drive out and using a notebook adapter card install
it as a second hard drive in a PC
usually best to disconnect the CD Rom drive and connect the notebook drive
there by itself
