Infinite login loop after Windows 2000 upgrade

When I upgraded from windows 98 to windows 2000, an error
occurred. After I restarted my computer it continued to
uprgrade normally. Though, after it was finish and took
me to the windows login screen, I had a problem. When I
would put my password in, it would say "loading personal
settings" then all of a sudden go back to the password
windows login screen. This happens in a continuous loop.
If anyone can help me that would be great.

We had this problem and found it to be a virus.
