Infernal racket

Hi folks,

I was messing about with DivX the other night and now for some reason there's high pitched squeal coming from my laptop everytime i touch it....it sounds like feedback and when i mute the laptop it stops it dead like an on/off switch..i've tried messing with the sound but it keeps coming....any idea's or suggestions ?? Thanks in advance.

does your laptop have a microphone?

what were you 'messing' around with exactly?

yeah i have a microphone....will check it out...i was trying to get more volume while watchin a film i converted from divX to vob....the volume was unbelievably low....must have messed with the mic....thanks for the hint.....i was actually trying everything and probably left the mic on....just have to remember how i did it....control panel no doubt....thanks again
