PEEEEEEP

I hear a little zooming sound in my ears...

I can think of two possibilities:

1. Too much gaming (Company of Heroe's + Left 4 Dead 2 + Dirt 2 ;))

2. High pitch sound coming from stock AMD X2 CPU Cooler ?!

I think it's actually number 2 ?!

Wacky !

Oh well.

If the peep don't go away after I stop gaming... when I stop gaming... I
might have to do something about... shitty ?!

Maybe trying to oil it ?!? But is it sleave bearing or ball baring fan...
hmmm...

Otherwise other cpu cooler needed but I already spent so much money on this

My next computer is gonna be an ultra low heat computer ! Me pretty sure

Actually there are two more possibilities I can think of:

3. The Denon receiver has something to do with it... maybe it's equalizer
?!?

4. The fans of the case have something to do with it when they on medium ?!?
Maybe too much noise...

Lastly:

5. X-Fi "bass redirection ?"

I still think it's number 2 though... :(

Also very remote possibility:

6. Outside building fan not giving my ears enough rest...

But I still think it's number 2 though ! =D

or

7. "7.1 surround sound sets bad for ears ?"

Hmm me go google that ! ;)

Bye,

Try going outside and see if you still hear it. How long has it been

No link. Of course, I'd only visit such a website on a virtual
machine (not that your website would be likely to be peppered with
malware, of course), and my vm setups don't handle the sound card all
that gracefully.
Then you can hear what I hear !

Now, THAT is a promise that makes me want to tinker with my virtual

Sometimes I wonder if you are just one of the most devious and

though. If this is all the product of your malicious imagination, you
should be putting that imagination to better use.

Hello,

(There are two important questions in this posting... please see below
near/in the rant. All capitals.)

Today on 2 december 2009 at 19 hour and 34 minutes I did the following
recording:

http://members.home.nl/hbthouppermans/PEEEEEP/VolumeEnhancedAt19h34mOn2december2009.mp3

The microphone was placed near the place where my head would be... so on the
chair.

No further modifications where made to the sound situation.

The volume on the sample has been increased since the microphone used
records on low volume.
(That's what the file is called "volume enhanced"... done with goldwave
editor).

I had to re-do the recording two times... one time there was a dropping
water thingy... one time a plane flew over... I kinda wished that I kept
that recording because could have been cool but then again it was too much
noise I guess... it took to long... (Shortly after the recording another
plane few over in the other direction gje ! :))

However something else happened during this final recording which can be
heard on the recording...

There is a creapy sound starting somewhere near 2 minutes. (Total recording
is 4 minutes ?!? last minute is silence (forgot to cut off last minute oh
well;)))

Anyway the creapy sound is I think the "glass" of the balkony door... I have
a back window open in the sleeping room... and the air pressure comes in...
and it pushes against the glass door which creates this cracking sound ?!?
Kinda creapy to hear it... but I am used to it ! ;) :)

Now you guys get to enjoy the creapy sound as well ! LOL.

Also some cars on the recording at the end... and sometimes it seems like
the recording drops off.. but that's because of large bass coming from
trucks or so... it was probably scaled out of the recording by the volume
enhanced... I don't care about that...

The PEEEEEEEEEEEP is what I care about... or hate about ;) and wanna loose
it ! =D

I think it's definetly hearable... since when I play the recording the
PEEEEEEEP becomes larger... so the sound recording stimulates/enhances the
already present sound.

The fans are from the antec 1200 case.. two back fans and top fan at low, 3
front fans at 2, 3 front fans at
(45 degrees of 180 degrees dial, so that should be roughly 25% fan speed at
the front).
(Actually if I set fan dial to 0% they still spin ofcourse... so it's
probably more.. but I don't know... it's just 25% of the dial !;))

And the rest of the sound is from the cpu fan/peep.

Anyway... later today at night I will do one more recording with the fans at
0 procent...

Disconnecting the fans is probably not possible since I stuck the cables to
the right back plate with sticky tape... not gonna pull that loose just for
a recording ! I can already hear the peep so...

But I will check it out if it's possible anyway.

Next time to do is:

1. Google for stock AMD X2 CPU Cooler and Fan and figure out if it can be
oiled or not... maybe that helps.

if not possible then I might have to enable Q-FAN to get rid of the noise
and risk destruction of my PC but at least my ears will be saved on the long
run....

Or I have to life with a PEEEEEEP in my ears !

I hear it when I go to sleep at night... while the PC is off !

And then very very slowly... the PEEEEP goes away... but I can still hear it
softly in the morning !

I am a little bit worried that the PEEEEEEEEEEP will get stronger and louder
over time !

And that would be really nasty !

I don't wanna hear a PEEEEEP all day !?!?

Especially not if it's strong ?!

So to protect myself from any further danger/damage to my ears and sanity !
=D I might have to do something about it ! ;)

Yes I think that is a wise thing to do ! LOL.

Now time for a final (funny) rant:

YOU STUPID NO GOOD MOTHERFUCKERS ! =D

PESTERING POOR SKYBUCK LIKE THAT ! WITH YOUR STUPID PEEEEEPING FANS !

STUPID CPU COOLER FANS !

I CAN TELL YOU ONE THING ABOUT AMD AND IT'S CPU FAN/COOLER !

I HAVE BIG DOUBTS ABOUT BUYING AN AMD CPU AGAIN !

BECAUSE THEY WERE MORE HOT AT THE TIME THEN INTEL CPU'S !
(MORE WATTAGE !)

BUT I DIDNT KNOW ABOUT IT !

I THINK I WAS ACTUALLY MISLEAD BY BELIEVING THAT AMD CPU'S WHERE SLIGHTLY
LESS POWERFULL AND THEREFORE SLIGHTLY COOLER ?!

THE STORY BACK THEN WAS THAT INTEL CPU'S GET HOTTER THAN AMD CPU'S ?!

BUT NOW WHEN I LOOK BACK AT THE SPECIFICATIONS... IT SEEMS THE INTEL CPU'S
ACTUALLY USED LESS WATTAGE ?!?!?

IMPORTANT QUESTION:
**************************************************************************************************
SO HOW CAN AN INTEL CPU BE HOTTER THEN AN AMD CPU WHILE THE INTEL CPU USES
LESS WATTAGE ?!?!?!?!?
**************************************************************************************************

WHAT THE **** I SAY ?!?!?!?!?

WAS THE PUBLIC MISLEAD ?!

OR IS THERE SOME TECHNICAL EXPLANATION FOR THIS ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

IF NOBODY MANAGES TO COME UP WITH A TECHNICAL EXPLANATION THEN IN THE FUTURE
I WILL LOOK AT THE WATTAGE !

SECOND IMPORTANT QUESTION:
********************************************************************************
AND I WILL ASSUME LOWER WATTAGE IS LESS HEAT ?!?!?!?!? CORRECT OR NOT
?!?!?!?!?

I am not completely happy with this first but "true-to-life" recording.

It shows the sound situation exactly as it is... (volume enhanced though)
but there is also a lot of "background/fan-air sound".

I want to capture the PEEEEEP sound in all it's glory ! So there can be no
doubt about it !

Therefore later today at night I will go to extreme lengths to capture it
once and for all !

The plan is to:

1. Wait for night fall =D
2. Detach as many case fans as possible, remove sticky tape for cables if
necessary, re-apply later possibly with new sticky tape.
3. Keep cpu fan running since that's what is producing the sound.

4. Record it from chair/head position first in case sound is directional.
5. Record it up close to zoom if it makes the recording even better.

4 and 5 will be the most important recordings.

Maybe I do some additional recordings of different fan speeds... like at
night and all low... but web-space is low so it's probably useless to make
those recordings anyway... I could store them on my harddisk for later/years
later if I want to hear how my PC sounded in case it died or something =D As
a reminder or so ! LOL.
Usually my PC's don't die... but this one probably wiiiilllllll ! Question
is why would I want to have a recording... oh well you never know what it's
good for the answer is ! ;) :)

So I will make those recordings for my own personal interesting (the fan
speed recordings) but those won't be published...

Only the best PEEEEEEEEEEEEEPING sound recordings will be published on my
website ! ;)

(If space is too low I might have to delete the first one... so get it will
you can ! ;))

Skybuck.

When I play this in Windows Media player there seems to be a clear double
sinus/cosinus wave distorted by the air flow sound... kinda interesting...

8. Refrigirator...

It also makes a high pitch sound... but not all day long ? Though currently
it's mostly empty ;) except for the freezing section...

But I have this device for 9 years or so... so I doubt that it's the
fridge... anyway... I now have a new better recording... gonna enhance it
and then a link will follow in the other sub thread ! ;)

Hello,

This "morning" at 6 hours and 48 minutes I did another recording... (I
wanted to make a Dirt 2 video first so it got a bit delayed).

This is what I did:

1. Shutdown the pc.
2. Unplugged the case fans.
3. Opened the case.
4. Placed the mic on the x-fi breakout box to give the mic levitation near
the cpu fan.
5. Rebooted pc.
6. Recorded the sound.

The result is in this folder:

http://members.home.nl/hbthouppermans/PEEEEEP/

To be precise in this file:

http://members.home.nl/hbthoupperma...eOpenVolumeEnhancedAt6h48mOn3December2009.mp3

At 0:38 I stop the cpu fan, then you can hear it spinning more slowly and
making less sound... then after a few seconds I let it run again...

I think later on there is some kind of very high peep sound hearable. But
it's difficult to recgonize between the main humming sound and the air flow
sound.

So there are a couple of sounds on this recording:

1. Main humming probably caused by power supply fan, graphics fan, cpu fan,
and motherboard electronics, maybe even fridge.

2. Air flow sound produces by power supply and graphics fan but mostly cpu
fan 3000+ RPM !

3. A high peeping sound at some parts of the recording... almost not
hearable... must play the sample really loud ?!

The third sound is very strange.

I also discovered something else... MP3 does not compress silence well... I
cut out the silencent/buffer part and the file size went from 5 MB to 1 MB !

I will leave it at that for now... more analysis is needed to extract the
peeping sound possibly.

For now I have three explanations for the peeping sound:

1. It's the CPU FAN metal sleeve rubbing against other metal because of lack
of oil.

2. It's the CPU Airflow creating the high pitch noise.

3. It's my own brain which experiences the sound as to loud and starts
playing a peep inside my head ?! ;)
(Like a pain signal or so)

I doubt it's 3... it's probably 2 or 3.

Anyway the end result is that this high pitching peeping noise is "copied"
by my brain or ear for some reason... and my brain or ear starts playing
this sound non-stop.

Maybe this is a form of temporarely high-pitch-sound-ear-damage ?!?

Is such a thing possible ?!

"High-pitch sound creating ear damage ?!?"

Weird.

Could also be the ear resonating at the same frequency... or simply brain
playing same signal over and over...

Bye,
Skybuck.

S

Skybuck Flying

Ok,

Thanks to goldwave and my smartness ! =D

I managed to isolate the sound... it's quite surprising !

Here is how I managed to extract it:

1. First the humming and airflow must be filtered out.

The humming and airflow have a low frequency noise.

So by cutting of the frequencies of say 0 to 5000 (?) this gets rid of it.
(Can't remember if it was 2000 or 5000 or 10000 just keep trying until it's
gone).

2. Now the volume must be increased because the high pitch noise is only
hearable if the volume is increased for some reason...

So next apply a "change volume" operation and increase the volume with
another 10 procent.

The result is this file:

http://members.home.nl/hbthouppermans/PEEEEEP/HighPitchNoiseExtractedAndVolumeEnhanced.mp3

And that's more or less what I hear in my head the whole day !

So the prove has been delivered...

(This was on a first attempt... maybe it can be extracted even better by
using a different bandpass filter setting...)

Bye,
Skybuck.

I wonder if I have stumbled upon something "secret", something that we human
beings do not know about yet...

People assume that "elderly" and "human beings" in general cannot hear "high
pitch sounds"...

Maybe the ear cannot hear it... or maybe our "concious mind" does not hear
it...

But what if we are wrong... what if our "animal brain" is able to process
these high pitch noises.

What if our "subconciousness" or "instinct" is aware of these high pitch
noises ?!?!?

Is that what I am hearing coming from my subconcious mind ?!?

It is well known that some animals like dogs... are aware of earth quakes
before they happen.

It is well known that dogs have superior hearing capabilities...

But what is it that makes dogs hear better than human beings ?!?

Is it truely the dog's ear that is better ?

Or is it simply it's animal mind that is tuned to a different tune...

Is it simply because of "concious mind" surpresses these animal signals
?!?!?

The human mind is known to surpress bad memories... so the whole
idea/concept of the concious mind surprising unwanted information is highly
plausible.

We human beings were animals once... maybe during that time we had superiour
"hearing capabilities" as well...

Maybe this can still be seen in monkeys... maybe monkeys pick up ultra sonic
sounds as well...

It's worthy of an experiment.

I also wonder if human beings are able to secretly pick up each other
thoughts... what if our thoughts are transmitted at ultra high frequencies
which we simply are not aware of ?

I can remember reading about the military sticking a mic to the throat to be
able to hear the mind speak so to speak ;)

I wonder if our throats are broadcasting sounds which we are not aware of at
a concious level... but maybe our subconcious is aware of these signals from
the throat ?!?

If true then I have made a remarkable discovery ! ;) :)

Bye,
Skybuck =D

Hoi,

peep sterker...

Ik ga nu even over hyperacusis lezen...

Doei,
Skybuck =D

S

Skybuck Flying

Shit he ?! ;)

netbooks ?)

Doei,
Skybuck =D

S

Skybuck Flying

graden ofzo ;)

Doei,
Skybuck.
