Attempted to install a wireless adapter on my wife's laptop. Message
obtained was: A service installation section in this INF is invalid.

I haven't been able to locate the manufacturer for help. I did, however,
locate an individual with the same hardware problem using the Linux OS.
Don't know how or if his fix would work. But, then, he lost me in his
description.

Anyone out there with suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

If you have either Service Pack 1 or 2 installed and are sure that this
driver is XP compatible and for your particular model of wireless adapter,
then why not post the INF file here as an attachment? Someone might know
enough about the INF file syntax to pinpoint the cause of the error.

Tony.

Jerry:

Make sure the "Wireless Zero Configuration" service is started and
running on your machine when you attempt to install the adapter. Do
this:

From RUN type in "services.msc" (no quotes) and press enter. When the
services dialog opens, scroll on down to "Wireless Zero Configuration"
and check to make sure the service is started and set to "automatic".

If it isn't, highlight the service, right click on it and select
properties. Change the startup type to automatic. Apply the changes
and reboot. Now try installing the adapter again.
