Industry Standards for Website font size and line spacing

I am inquiring as to whether there is a standard font size to be used for
websites as well as line spacing. We are using 12 pt font for regular text -
14 pt for headings and single line spacing. This seems large compared to a
lot of other sites. Is there a standard for these?

Hi Michele

There isn't a strict rule about font size as it depends on the font you're
using - Arial 10 point is the average - and even that can seem big at
times......however, I wouldn't ever use anything smaller than 8 point.

The main thing to remember is to keep things consistent across the whole site.
