Individual Labels in Word 2007

Hi,
I'm having a highly frustrating time trying to get word 2007 to insert an
adress from the outlook contacts list into an individual label.

On my old computer and system (word 2003), I could easily get an individual
label by clicking on Tools - Letters and Mailings - Envelopes and Labels.
From there I simply clicked on Address Book, selected the sub-file from
Contacts that I wanted, clicked on the name and hey presto! The address
would appear on the label.

Now got a new computer, with vista and office 2007. I have found out how to
get it to do an individual label (mailings - labels), get the similar box up
to insert the address, but when I click on the address book icon I then get a
search box, with no options on the "address book" drop down - aarrgghh!

I have hunted high and low around the microsoft site for an answer to this,
and after an hour of looking, I've now ended up here, frustrated, fed up and
not sure what else to try!

If any of you have any useful suggestions, or better still, know the answer
please speak up! At this rate, I'm going back to my dodgy old computer and
chucking the new one out the window!

Make sure that your Contacts folder in Outlook is set up to be used as the
address book. This usually happens by default, but sometimes doesn't (for
reasons nobody seems able to fathom). In Outlook, in Folder List view,
right-click Contacts and choose Properties. Click the Outlook Address Book
tab. Is "Show this folder as an email Address Book unchecked? If so, then
click to check it, and then click OK.

If "Show this folder as an email Address Book" is checked and grayed out as
unavailable, then there must be a different problem at work.

The function works exactly the same as it did in Word 2003, provided Outlook
is your default e-mail application. When you click the address book and get
the search window, what does it say in the Address Book box? It should say
Contacts (or if you have more than one contacts list, the one with the
address you wish to use).

Hi Herb,

Many thanks for your prompt reply, but guess what? Yup, my difficult
computer has "show this folder as an email address book" greyed out and
un-checkable! Any ideas what could be causing this, or do I need to go and
ask on an Outlook forum?

Hi Graham,

Like Herb, many thanks for the quick response.

As you will see in my reply to Herb, I seem to have a bigger problem! When
I click on the "Address Book" as per your suggestion, the box is completely
blank - there are no options.....

Any further suggestions would be gratefully recieved!
