Indexing & two computers

Ø

Øyvind Granberg

Hi...
I usually run my Outlook 2007 PST file on two computers.
But the indexing is not adequate. It takes a loooong time for it to index,
and there is no progress at all if I use the computer simultaneously
Is it possible to set the indexing function to always run when ever Outlook
is running...?

How are you accessing this pst file on two PC's - ie where is the pst
located, over a LAN?

if the pst is being copied between machines the indexer needs to redo the
entire pst because the file dates change. If you are using a network share
for the pst it is slow because it on the network.

I have the pst file located in My Documents/Outlook folder, and use Synctoy
to copy it between the two computers.

Did you try rebuilding the index? if the index is not corrupt (which
rebuilding the index should fix), then the sync utility is making the
indexer think you have all new items to index.
