Indexing Service -- Still Not Working

I've repaired Office 2007 and OneNote 2007. I've removed and reinstalled
Desktop Search 3 multiple times and it still won't work. My computer has been
running for DAYS in an idle mode.

When I initially installed Office 2007 and OneNote, it appeared that index
service was working for OneNote. But not for Outlook. So I selected to
rebuild the index and proceeded to lose all ability to search in OneNote as
well as Outlook.

Very depressing to consider having to go back to working with 2003 versions
as there is so much generally to like in '07.

I see there are numerous posts on this, and I apologize for another. But has
any solution appeared that generally works (without me having to read dozens
of the same responses?).

So we will have to answer dozens of the same questions instead?

Uninstall all versions of WDS from your system, reboot amd start Outlook. It
will prompt you to install. Follow instructions to do so.

Note that when you do a short query which lots of results it will say
nothing found as well. This is a current WDS BETA issue.

Ok, Roady. I should have said that I had *already* read dozens of posts in
the past week or so, and found absolutely no help that worked. Everyone says
something like: "uninstall all versions of WDS... reboot... start Outlook..."

As if that hadn't already been said, read, and tried. So the idea of reading
dozens more of the same was what I was trying to avoid, and what you are
sarcastic about.

As for your suggestions, all that's left out is how many candles to light,
whether to walk in small or large circles around the room, and how many
reinstalls of WDS can fit on the head of a pin.

Clearly this is a significant problem for this many users to be talking
about, and I just thought maybe someone knew of something recent -- maybe
even from Microsoft (what a thought) -- that addressed this problem.

Yeah, sure. It's beta. But who woulda thunk that they would have thrown
something so clearly broken into the mix?

It works for a lot of people. You are dealing with typical beta issues.
That's the risk you take when you got the beta.

i certainly enjoy having to reinstall my desktop search every week... maybe
since we aren't the only one's this problem is effecting, rather we're just
the one's who know enough to try and get help. Why doesn't microsoft try to
fix this problem before they think about charging for access to the beta ....!
what kind of crap is that, charging for a beta... especially one that's done
when the real product actually comes out.

I'd just like to see a fix for the SEARCH feature, which is basically the
only new worthwhile thing in the WHOLE office 07 suite. You follow me? MS
MVP'S??? The only feature you've upgraded really besides looks, is the one
that doesn't WORK!!!!!
