Index function.

I'm trying to grasp the difference between the two syntax's for the INDEX
function. The only difference I can see is that the Reference version
allows you to have non adjacent ranges.

Any help would be appreciated.

A good refence book I use is "Excel 2002 Formulas" by John Walkenbach.
