index fonts

Why is the font of my index going between Book Antiqua and Times New Roman?
It seems rather arbitrary and there seems to be no indication in the {xe}
fields that would indicate a font change. I am using Word 2003, any help
would be appreciated.
 
Unless there is direct font formatting applied to the XE fields, the fonts
used in the index are determined by the Index styles.
