"index.dat" currupted

The system uses a file called "index.dat" (can't be seen
with the explorer) to keep track of files and
internetadresses that have been visited. Mine is
currupted. Is there anyway to restart this file from
scratch ? It can not be moved - or deleted - because it
says it is used by the system

Completely remove "index.dat"
