Index and Table problem when emailing

trying to send a word document which has a table of contents in it, but when
the email is received the page numbers have all been reset.
Any idea what i can do the ensure that page link etc works once sent. Its
part of a diseration, so can't just ask end user to update the table.

This problem is usually caused by opening the document in Reading Layout
view. You have three options:

1. Suggest that the recipient not open the document directly from the
attachment but rather save the file first and then open it. Since Reading
Layout view applies only to attachments, it will be avoided.

2. Suggest that the recipient disable Reading Layout view (Tools | Options |
General).

3. Suggest that the recipient update the TOC after switching to a different
view (you've said that this isn't a satisfactory option, however).

This appears to work a treat. I can send this info' when I submit the
thesis. Excellent response...
