Indenting form fields

I'm trying to create a form for a memorandum that's in a standard format we
use. One of the basic problems is that there are a lot of variables, like
one section might be one paragraph or two, so I'm trying to keep it simple.
However, I've run into a problem indenting one of the fields. This is what I
want to do (if it formats properly here):

The second line needs to start where the J is. But Word just starts the
second line under the F. I can't do a second field underneath because this
needs to be generic--there might only be one line, and we can't have an extra
space that's not supposed to be there, but we need the ability to do the
second line if it's needed.

Also, we have a place on the memo where something might be two paragraphs,
but when I tested the field and hit enter after the first paragraph, added
the required blank line and tried enter again, I exited from the field
instead of being able to start the second paragraph.

Are there any workarounds to this?

Thanks!

Scratch the one below. I thought it was kicking me out of the field because
it wasn't turning gray, and it turned out it was still in it--just needed to
type additional text for the next paragraph.

Have you applied a hanging indent to the paragraph?

Yes. I've tried applying styles to the line, but it pretty much ignores it
when it pops over to the next line (this is Office 2003, by the way). I also
tried applying it without styles and got the same result.

You could use a (borderless) table. But I don't see why a form field in a
paragraph would ignore paragraph formatting.

I found one thing I was doing wrong--I was creating the new style based on
the text, but I needed to in addition apply it to the line. I was thinking
it was already applied because I had created it on that line.

However, I also discovered that I have to delete the field before I can make
changes to the style. When I tried to change the style with the field there,
the field actually changed to Arial while the style was TNR--and it would not
change to TNR at all. But I inserted after I applied the style, it worked
like it was supposed to.

Glad you got it working.
