Incrementing Numbers

I have a query that has two blank fields that require
updating before it gets sent to the enduser. One of the
fields, RouteNo can be updated to '999', so I built an
update field to do that and it works fine. The second
field is the Route Sequence for each one of the 999 Route
Nos. These need to be updated by 1 for each one of the
999s i.e. the starting number for the first one 1, 2, 3
etc.

Can anyone assist me if how to go about getting the two
items to happen at the same time in an update query.

The problem is the sequential number, especially in a multi-user
environment.

This is something best handled in code, but you can try using DMax() to
deteremine the highest previously used number.
