Incrementing File Names

Not sure if this is possible ...

My digital camera takes .jpg shots and allocates file names: 'IMG_0001',
'IMG_0002', etc.

When stored on my laptop I often want to change the file name. For example:
'Project 15 - 001'. I then need the next file to be 'Project 15 - 002' and
so forth.

Having altered the first file, is there any way of changing the others (ie;
by 'dragging' in some form)? At the moment all I can do is alter each one
manually.

Thanks.

Hi,

Some GUI based freeware utilities that are able to do bulk renaming:

CKRename:
http://www.musicsucks.com/CKSoft/index.htm

1-4a Rename (from the screen shoots it looks like this ones can take
sub-folders as well):
http://www.1-4a.com/rename/

You will find a lot of utils for this here as well:
