Incredibly slow system

I downloaded service pack 1 and ever since my computer is
so slow. Programs can take as long as 8 minutes to load.
I have done all of the troubleshooting on the system and I
tried to reload Windows. While I was reloading Windows I
kept getting "Cyclic redundancy check #23" errors. I am
afraid I have some registry corruption but do not know how
to fix it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
 
do you mean with reload..reinstall?
Format the drive first to NTFS before you reinstall but
safe your Documents to CD or a different drive.
