Increasing Cache Size?

Hello

I use my Windows XP computer all day; in and out of software with a number
of large file manipulations. I notice that my hard disk works real hard and
I would like to save it some effort before I wear it out prematurely.

How can I do this? Is there a memory cache and how do I increase its size,
possibly to the max? Is this the best method? I wanted to check with the
knowledge base here before I try changing something on my machine.

Increasing your RAM will enable the PC to store more of the files in the RAM
instead of caching it to the disks. You can also get drives with greater
cache and the likes as well. I recommend the first of the two options.

I /highly/ recommend just increasing the system's RAM so that it can keep
more data in the RAM as opposed to writing it all to disk.
