Increase speed options for modem to program serial port

I need to how I can increase the options provided in the properties
section of the modems tab in the Phone and modem Options menu item of the
Control Panel Menu.
With this information, I could Improve the speed of the Maximun Port speed
from modem to program in Windows XP which is different than the Maximum Port
Speed from modem to modem to navigate though Internet. I hope any one could
provide me with this information for this situation; Thanks...

You will not increase the communication speeds when using the Internet. The
modem connection speeds are usually determined by the distance the phone
line is from your ISP. You will only speed up the comm. between you PC and
the modem.

If you mean the com (serial) port speed it's in Device Manager under
Ports, right click the com port and select Properties, Settings.

That's what he was asking, how to manipulate the speed between the PC
and Modem. Try reading the post first.

Héctor :

When I meant increasing the options of the maximun port speed I
am refering to increase the number of options avialable in the drop down list
of options that is included in the properties section of the modem which is
named Maximun Port Speed for modem to software (or PC) communciation and is
different from the other property with the name "Maximun Speed bps" presented
on the Modem Configuration dialog box found in the General tab of the ISP
Name's connection properties.
I think that editing the registry could increase the number of
available port speed options in that drop down list of options of the modem
properties but I do not know the process of which Key or SubKey and value to
modify. Also maybe is other the procedure to increase the number of options
to select. Thank you for any information you could provide me to resolve this
situation.

What are you trying to achieve?

Set the port speed to it's max. The actual speed of the connection will
be determined by the 2 modems.

I am trying to increase the number of options avialable for the maximum port
speed which is correspondent to the speed of transmition of the DTE (Data
Terminal Equipment) and that is different from the speed of transmission from
modem to modem) If you know someone that could bring me this information
please ask the person to send me a message with the needed information.
Thanks...

Those "options" are determined by the hardware you have. The newer the
UART in the PC the greater the number of "options". The best UART will
support up to 230K bits per second.

It does not matter. You typically select the closest higher setting.
Windows will adjust. The only time it actually makes a difference is when
trying to communicate with a seril device liek a printer or a terminal.
