Incorrect harddrive size reported by Windows Explorer

Bob Dandurand

My Windows Explorer is reporting 15.6 GB of free space on a NTFS drive
partition that reflects a maximum size of 57.8 GB. The partition on my
primary drive had data but was deleted and no data remains. Drive was
Optimized to clear MFT but does not appear to have removed the allocations.
I would appreciate any help that will lead me to a possible resolution. I
have a new Dell XPS 400 configured with a RAID 1 harddrive setup.

Open My Computer. Right-click on the icon for the drive and select
Properties. What does it show for capacity, used, and free?

Use Start - Run - DISKMGMT.MSC - what does that say about this
partition?

Have you run CHKDSK on the partition?

Good luck
