Incompatibility between versions and operating systems

I have written a complex spreadsheet with macros on XP
version 10.2614.2625

However I am having problems getting some of the macros
to run properly on a sepearte pc running 2000 version
9.0.2720
The XP version has more capability

Is there a way I can save my version to an earlier one
and automatically modify the macros (or indicate issues)
to make it more compatible with his?
Should I simply ask my colleague to update his 2000
version and if so to what?
Do I simply have to go through each macro on his machine
and rewrite it to make it compatible with his version?

normally this should work without problems. What exact issues do you
have?

Best way would be to always develop in the lowest version!
