Incoming server address changes to "localhost" - problem

My pop server address frequently changes to local host.
And, the incoming server address is then appended to the User Name -
preceeded with a "/"

Anyone have any idea why this happens?
Unfortunately it has happened on my laptop, desktop, and my wife's computer.
This even happens with a fresh image (O/S and apps re-installed, with new
mail file).

I've experienced it with Windows ME, 2000, XP home and XP Pro.
Also with Office 2000 and now with Office XP.

If I remember correctly (it's been a long time) the only constant is the
fact that I have used a gateway. Used to be a Linux host, but now a
satelitte modem.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!

This is being caused either by an anti-virus program or an anti-spam
program. Check the settings on those. Outlook is not changing your settings.

Thanks... I'll try this. For anyone else with this problem and who has
PC-Cillin, Trend Micro suggests making sure real-time scan is on.
