incoming modem connection

I have an XP Pro workstation and I'd like to dial into it from a remote
site. I set up the incoming connection to the internal us robotics 56k
modem, and chose to hand out a range of possible ip addresses. I can make
the connection but the speed is around 7 kb on one side and around 12 kb on
the other side. I can connect to an earthlink account from both the xp
workstation and the remote machine at around 42 kb. Do you have any ideas
on how I might improve my xp workstation's connection speed when it receives
the call?

My intent is to then establish a remote desktop session to test whether or
not this arrangment is an efficient solution for supporting remote users.
Currently using PC Anywhere but it can be really slow.

Thank you,

Jason

Thank you. I've tried and like radmin in a wan environment. I was hoping
to avoid installing software on the remote machines and also thought that
using rdp would be speedier than all of the remote admin products over
dialup. Am I on the wrong track?

Jason

You might consider Remote Administrator. Cheaper, faster, and more secure
that pcAnywhere. Famatech's Remote Administrator:
