INCD software - "Ahead"

first of all, i want to say that this newsgroup is
fantastic. i have had helpful responses in the past and
thank all of you for your support. here's my latest
problem: i have a 2 yr. old e-machine with a licensed
version of xp home that came with it. it has InCd "Ahead"
burning software that seems to automatically appear when
i put a CD-RW disc in it. i use the 700mb max storage
disc made by office depot (their genereic brand). using
the prompts, i formatted this disk so i can use it just
like a floppy. i store pics on it using the cut and paste
method from my memory stick ( sony ). i was able to
retrieve all pics with no problems until recently. i now
get the message, "cannot read disk, may not be UDF
formatted, not compatible with xp". i was using the exact
same formatted disk with no problems and checked the
properties several times to ensure that i was storing
data and that i had available space left. in fact, i had
only used about 10% of the available space when this
happened. i read the knowledge base for a possible
explanation but it did not help me solve the problem. the
only thing i did since using it last was put it in my
other computer that has "millenium OS" and does not have
InCD burning system. it could not read any pics that were
on it either. i had stored the pics in two formats: png
(microsoft digital imaging 7.0) and in jpeg to use with
another program. no pics will show up now on the disk. i
check properties and it says that i have no available
space and says it is not formatted. what's up with that?
sorry about the long message but i wanted to provide as
much details as possible. i haven't tried it in my sony
vaio yet ( new ) but i will to see if it will read what
is on the disk. there is absolutely no way i erased any
info. on this disk. i have some precious little league
pics on it, so i would like to open it up and save them
onto the HD. thanks for your help. ej.

Welcome to the world of packet-writing. It works great until it
doesn't - then you are totally buggered.

Never - I say again, NEVER - put anything on a packet-writing
formatted CD that you can't afford to lose.

Don't suppose the web interface user will see this any more than I see the
web interface user posts - but who knows? Anyway, I can very nearly always
recover data from such CDRW media using ME (with InCD - or just Ahead's free
EasyWriteReader - installed) while XP won't touch it.

But I do make sure I have the data backed up anyway.
