What version of Outlook?

I believe the location is a hidden folder, so you'll need to choose the
option to search for hidden and system files.

Help!

It's a hidden file. (I think) - the location is:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OfficeXX
where XX is the version of Office. 12 for 2007, 11 for 2003, 10 for 2002 etc
etc.

Here is my location in Vista using Outlook 2007. Hope it helps.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANPST.EXE

No need to download it. It was installed when you installed Outlook. For
Outlook 2007 it's in
%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office12 and for Outlook 2003 and earlier (for
English versions), it's in %CommonProgramFiles%\system\MSMAPI\1033. Open
WIndows Explorer and enter the appropriate path in the Address field. Click
Go.

Only for Office 2007. For prior versions it's in
%CommonProgramFiles%\system\MSMAPI\xxxx where "xxxx" is the locale for the
particular version of Office (1033 for English).

Thanks for the correction!

I keep seeing in these and other forums that the scanpst.exe file is
installed on my C: drive. I have looked in all the folders and looked for
hidden files as well. It's not there. Can someone please humor me and tell
me where I can download the SCANPST.EXE file from a safe, reliable source?
Can MS provide this file or email it to me? Please help by telling me where
I can download this file. I've spent hours looking on my hard drive. It's
not there.

Location in Vista with Office 2007 is:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\

For XP and 2003 the location is:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11

It's not in that directory. It's not on my C: drive as far as I can tell.
And yes, I've checked hidden files too.

I've never heard of an Outlook installation that doesn't install it. Are you
saying that if you open Windows Explorer and type the appropriate path into
the Address field, then click Go that you don't see it?

That is correct. I opened Windows Explorer and searched for the file through
WE. I just installed MS Office on my new computer so I'm currently using a
"Trial Version". Would that account for the difference? I'm positive that
the file is not there now based on what I see in WE (including a search for
hidden files).

No where did I say "search". Open Windows Explorer and enter the EXACT PATH
in the Address field, then click Go.

I'm having this same problem, running Outlook 2007 with Business Contact
Manager in Vista 64 bit. I've entered all the paths that you suggested in
Windows Explorer and get a message that the file cannot be found. I've shown
unhidden files. I've also checked the program cds (the program was already
installed on my computer when I bought it) with the same result. Any
suggestions as to where I can go from here? Did Todd ever get a resolution to
his problem?

Thanks!

With a 64 bit OS, the paths are a little different. If you really have
enabled viewing hidden files and folders, you'd be able to browse to them.
Since I don't have a 64 bit version of Windows, someone else will need to tell
you the exact path.

Thanks for trying. I FINALLY found it (it was NOT easy) when I searched the
entire computer (thought I had done this before, but maybe not) The path,
FYI, since you seem to be answering a lot of these posts, is drive:\Program
Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\scanpst.exe The scanost tool is there, too.

Thanks again.
